Book To Make You Laugh and Cry

This is my first book talk, so bear with me. Sorry about the audio not syncing correctly with the video. Sometimes it can get really bad.

Ahhhh! “That Fault in Our Stars”!! So good. If you don’t cry while/after reading that book then you have no soul.

Just recently on my way back from Portland, I was driving and my friend in the passenger seat was reading “Looking for Alaska” by John Green. The ride was pretty quiet until I hear her just start to sob! Her face is red and blotchy and her nose is running. I got freaked out until I realized she was reading a John Green book, then I was like “oh yes..that makes sense.”

Books that can draw out such intense emotions are more powerful than I think people realize. Whether it’s tears of laughter, books become another character in our world. They have their own personality.

I loved the quote that you pulled from “The Fault in Our Stars” about books. I think the best part of reading is the fact that it’s OK to become completely immersed in a separate world where you wish your reality would shatter so you can enter this new one.

I agree I loved “The Fault in Our Stars”. I was hesitant but now am excited to read more by him. I had actually put “Looking for Alaska” on my read list before I knew who he was. You have also made me really want to read “Harris and Me” Thanks for the new titles to add to my already long list.
