A girl and her cat take on the world with nothing more than a cup of tea and a good book and enough dreams to fill the universe.

Sharing Sunday: Moving Forward

I don’t know why it’s been so hard for me to blog this week. I have a half dozen half blog posts sitting in the drafts section of my dashboard. They’re over inquiry and they’re over tattoos and rocket launches and lots of other things and I just am struggling to get back on the blogging wagon this week. I’m hoping to come back full force today with sharing sunday and I plan on writing and finishing a blog for tomorrow as well. No more of this draft after draft that I’m not following up on.

So, today’s Sharing Sunday theme is college (kind of) since my sister just got back from all her college visits. Without further ado, here it is:

I want you to be a fine broth of a woman,

my mom always told us.

Find your dream and pursue it. Go for it.

Shoot for the moon.

Be whoever you want to be.

You’re intelligent young ladies.

My dad never said much along these lines.

Not that I can remember.

But he’s always there at those important events

With pride shining in his eyes.

We took the advice.

We strove for the proud looks

On our parent’s faces.

We tried and we tried

And we succeeded.

We made our young

Dreams come true.

No one told us about what happens after.

The plague of what ifs.

The directionless spinning of

We’ve opened so many doors,

We don’t know which to chose.

The problems of over-achieving.

The ones no one ever mentions.

It’s crippling.

We want to make you proud.

We want to be the best we can be

And we want to work as hard as we can.

We just don’t know what to do.

We have lost the dream in the

Wake of opportunity.

With time, we find it again.

We grab hold of it.

We make choices, some

Better than others

And we learn to live with them.

We learn to make the best of

Every situation.

We learn to find a dream that

Doesn’t expire at the end of a

Year or four.

We approach everything with a boundless

Passion and we are bound forward

For the moment.

*I have no idea why I felt like these photos kind of went with the piece, but here they are.
